East Coast Homes is proud to help you build your "green"
modular home. The Environmental Protection Agency defines
green building as "the practice of creating healthier and more
resource-efficient models of construction, renovation,
operation, maintenance, and demolition." This method of
building is far healthier for you, your family, your budget,
your neighborhood, and the planet. There are several
ways that East Coast Homes can help you build green and obtain
any level of green certification you desire.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY In order to keep your home highly
energy efficient, our green homes have ceiling and wall
insulation with a greater R-value. All potential areas for air
infiltration like electrical boxes, drywall seams, etc, are
foam insulated - keeping your home draft free. Also, our
homes come standard with Low E glass windows filled with argon
gas. All these features help keep your heating and cooling
bills down while staying environmentally friendly. East Coast
Homes also offers Energy Star appliance packages which will
again increase your home's energy efficiency.
HEALTHIER INDOOR AIR QUALITY Your modular home is
constructed in sections in an indoor facility so it will
never be exposed to poor weather. In combination with this,
the building materials used all pass rigorous moisture tests
so your home will never face mold or mildew problems. This
creates a fresh healthy home for your family to live free of
toxins.
MATERIAL CONSERVATION/RECYCLING With the help of
computer aided design and precision measuring/cutting methods,
the excess material is minimal. Excess drywall, lumber,
plumbing, etc are figured into the design and then used
elsewhere in your home, or even another soon to be constructed
home. The small amount of material that cannot be reused is
sorted and then recycled.
REDUCED ECOSYSTEM DISRUPTION Due to the home arriving
85% complete, the time in which the ecosystem is disrupted is
greatly reduced when compared to the stick built home method.
In addition, East Coast Homes can work with you to create a
free preservation plan for your lot.
WATER EFFICIENT CHOICES East Coast Homes also can build
a green home that conserves water by offering the option of
water-saving faucets, shower heads, and toilets which greatly
reduces water consumption. |
